Interview With Dana Washington

http://theloverfly.com/ .. Check out her work .. Amazing site !

What’s your name? Give us a brief explanation about yourself.

My name’s Dana Washington and I’m a student of life. I enjoy the processes of learning whether it deals with creativity, daily situations or educational based.

  • Where are you from? And has it Influenced you at all?

I’m from Orange County, California. I’m naturally influenced by all things that surround me, though Southern California definitely has a reflection on me. I’m extremely chill, spoiled from the good weather we get, and there’s plenty of individuals that are similar to me that I can vibe with.

  • As an Artist, who would you like to work with in the future?

I honestly don’t have anyone in particular I’d like to work with. I just want to continue creating overall, with others or just my own force. It would be dope to get an all female track circulating the net. Female emcees and singers, sort of like “Ladies Night.”

  • The Loverfly project was a success; I mean people were really feeling it on Rautten Culture. We had a good amount of downloads and positive responses. In the process of making it, did you think it would turn out like this? Are you satisfied with the results and feedback you have gotten?

Thank you I appreciate the support and feedback from Rautten Culture. I couldn’t be more satisfied with the response. I had no true expectation for it because I hadn’t put out any new projects since 2008. I was a bit nervous actually. As soon as I received the first couple positive responses, my nervousness went away. I put a lot of effort and time into TheLover/FlyingLotus Project, it personally makes me smile at every good thing said about it.

  • Please, explain to us exactly what Loverfly is, where did the name originate from?

I have a friend who produces and he put out a project under the name “AfroButterfly,” and I thought it was the best thing ever. He told me he got the name while listening to Digable Planets (members are Butterfly, Doodlebug, and Ladybug Mecca). I created my own name through his inspiration, I went with “love” because it’s something I’m working with as a human being, and I want to grow through it. Love.

  • We also understand you are into photography and photo editing, Do you think you are going to continue to pursue that career?

Music and film photography are two hobbies I do my best in. I don’t want to pursue either professionally, but I vow to progress in these two fields like professionals.

  • Do you have any future projects? If so tell us about it.

I have a photobook in the works called LVRFLY. It’ll feature my film photography and some interviews/write ups I’d love to share with the world. Musically, I’m always writing and recording. I’m sure I’ll have another musical project to present this 2011 year.

  • Any last words or Shout outs?

Support Art not based on popularity, but based on its quality.

Thank You for your time, and we wanna also thank you for this interview . We will continue to support you and we would hope that you do the same.
