Asia Dee (@ASIADEE) & Mixie (@swaqqTV) Are FONCY (INTERVIEW)

In the walls of LA, creativity seems to be @ its highest peek, you could be going out for coffee and end up meeting a fashion director eager to work with you, one of the joys of being in LA. Foncy, in my eyes is the perfect uprising brand LA needs, being created by Queen$ & creating apparel also for King$ is something you dont see everyday, and thats dope! Most clothing lines are started by males & target males, but Foncy, similar like ourselves, broke that chain. We contacted the queen$ to get a better understanding of their motive & hopefully it allows our viewers to also.
MEET ASIA & MIXIE.
peace queen$, could you both tell us a little about yourselves, to give our readers a little background information on you all.

M: Thank you for having us! I go by Mixie, born in Colombia, raised in Minnesota, LA living for the past year. I love all kinds of art & aspire to be a great all around artist. I love to travel and hope this line and my art can bring me everywhere I want to go!

A: I’m Asia Dee.  I’m a Long Beach native, I live near Hollywood now.  I’m a model and I love what I do.

how did you both meet?

M: These days everything is online, which is how we first found each other, I think via Twitter/Tumblr. When I moved out here last August, Asia was the first to take me to Venice Beach. Honestly, we didn’t even really talk to each other, awkward, haha. However, we started working together on random things and found out we were so much alike and became best friends. 🙂
what was the inspiration for “Foncy” ? explain both of your visions you had when starting.

A: I just wanted to have a line that people from all walks of life could wear, men, women, boys & girls.  We wanted to be able to exemplify our personalities & creativity through our line.

M: We wanted to create a brand that showcased our everyday lives, as we work a lot with street wear & fashion in LA &  as I try to back in Minnesota whenever I have the chance to go back. I personally have so many ideas for visuals that I always wanted to express but could never find the right way to put it out, and with ‘F

ŏncy’ I finally found somewhere I could do pretty much whatever I wanted with.

how did you name come about?

M: Nine times out of ten, people say ‘fancy’ instead of ‘foncy’ and that’s pretty much how we came up with it. Asia and myself are always joking around, saying things in different ways and ‘foncy’ just sounded ‘foncier’.

how would you define both of  your city’s fashion?
A:  I’m from Long Beach and there’s definitely a lack of fashion direction there…. I’ve always had my own crazy, funky style thankfully.

M: Coming from a suburb in Minnesota, growing up in a private school, I didn’t see much of anything out of the ordinary. I suppose the city’s fashion is a later Cali vibe. I just want to have something new for them, I love my home state.

What hobbies do you have that relate to the fashion industry

A: Modeling and coming up with ideas for our line.  With modeling, since it is my utmost passion, it keeps me in tune with the fashion world.

M: Any visual art, I’m into. Videos, photography, designing, etc.. I’m trying to do it all! Trying to get into modeling a little bit, its pretty fun. I think we both work with a lot of different people, anything that involves creativity, thinking outside the ordinary, is fun for me.

Who is one of your favorite local models to work with? (excluding yourselves 😉 )

M: ha, that’s funny because Asia is one of the only models I shoot usually.. but our friends Christina Santini & Mikala Love are always fun to work with, super gorgeous and fun times.

Name the hardest thing about juggling a brand, and also trying to keep a social life.

A: To me,  it’s not that tough.  I’m used to having a lot on my plate, and adding a clothing line into the mix just makes it more exciting!.

M: My life has been super crazy lately. I wake up early to take classes, work on the line with Asia, and usually there’s some LA event that I go to. No sleep! But also, we both do our own thing, so its harder to make time to meet with each other.
What would you have to say is your favorite part about conceptualizing a design?

M: I think it would have to be the spontaneity of it all. Pretty much whatever we do is really whatever we feel like doing at the time. We use pictures that we’ve taken throughout the year or so we’ve known each other, then come up with different ideas according to how the picture makes us feel.

Define your personal style.
A:  I just wear whatever reflects my mood.  I don’t really have much of a style, honestly.

M: My style is so diverse, I feel like I know a little of every world so I try to piece it all together.. sometimes it just looks like a mess, but if I wear it, I love it. I try to just have fun with everything I do, so my style reflects that I think.

Would it be possible to tell us the next move for foncy? any big releases we can look forward to?
A; We’re planning on getting placed in a few stores (stay tuned)!  We’re also planning on launching Winter fŏncy wear 🙂

Thank you for your time royalty, any last words or shootouts?
