The Eclectic & Soulful Los Angeles based recording artist Skye Townsend Shed’s some light on us in this 10 question interview for the latest Nouveau. After Addressing Everything From Her Style Influences to her Dream Collaboration, Its hard to not fall In love with the 19yr old Rising Star.

1. Who is Skye Townsend. What’s one common misconception made about you that you want to make clear ?

Skye Townsend is a passionate performing artist as well as visual artist. She is misunderstood, bold and caring. The biggest misconception that people make about me is that I’m cocky or overly confident. I am just sure of myself and positive about my future and refuse to take no as an answer.

2.Your a breath of fresh air to the overly-saturated industry right now. What inspire’s you to stay true to yourself as its so easy to get sidetracked ?

Thank you so much. I feel like being myself is what makes me different so I try to stay encouraged. Staying in touch with my supporters keeps me motivated to make more music and get on board with more projects.

3. Give us a few of your biggest style influences.

I adore Lisa Bonet and her daughter, Zoe Kravitz. Amber Rose and Tae Heckard are also both really fly to me.

4.Everything from your hairstyle, To choice of clothing is very unique.  Do you often feel like the odd girl out ? Or do you take it as a form of flattery?

I used to feel weird. However, now I just wear what I want and dress how I feel and it’s liberating. It’s more so frustrating when I see people pull inspiration from me after attacking how I dress. I try to swallow my pride and take it as a compliment but it is funny how trends come into play at different moments.

5.What is Style to you, What do you consider being stylish  ?

I think style has nothing to do with price. I buy half of my leggings for under five dollars and most of my dopest pieces come from Goodwill. Style is making basic items work for you. There isn’t one definition. Ebay is my bestie.

6.Were You always interested in fashion, or was it something that you got into later in life  ?

I still don’t consider myself a fashionista. I just know what I like and have fun experimenting with pieces and recreating them. I always dressed differently though.

7. How important has connecting to others in the fashion community been to your work and social life ?

I feel like the broader fashion community is the average teen. If you look past the designers and brands, it’s the kids who are buying them and trying to find their own style. It’s funny to see people reblog my photos or post about my style and beg for answers of where I buy my stuff. It’s hilarious to see reactions when I say Goodwill or Ebay. Connecting in any way is important. Some people reach out to me over a pair of shoes and never even know I’m a singer.

8.If you could collaborate with any artist who it be & why ?

I’d collaborate with Beyonce. I adore her. I watch her behind the scenes videos when she rarely drops them and am blown away at our similarity. It’s beautiful to see hands on artists. Beyonce is so involved with her craft and that is what makes her the greatest. I hope to be like her one day.

9. Is there any other type of art your into and could see yourself creating in the near future ?

I am a painter, make up artist (at home lol), and I also do photography. I do henna tattoos and would like to learn how to do actual tattoos. Every year, I try to take on a new form of artwork. This year I got more into designing.

10. Tell us about the biggest milestone in your career recently ?

I think it is yet to come. I am performing my first live show singing my own songs on October 12th at the Roxy in Hollywood. The Roxy is monumental and I can’t believe I’m gracing the stage there. Adele did her first US performance there and the venue is classic. I think that will be one of my biggest moments.
