Where’d you grow up, and how has that influenced your sound?

i grew up in irvington,nj…not to far from Newark. Jersey has its own style especially when it comes to its lingo. My whole raps style is inspired by Jersey,my approach the way i pronounce my words.

What category would you place yourself in musically? Hmmm i would put myself under groovy/hiphop/vibe/feel good music. I want ppl to hear my music and feel as though they already know me.A familiar comforting sound.

 

How did you meet Imani Omari, and what’s it like working with him? Iman manager hit me up a year ago and told me about him. I was so busy with classes and busy my project i didnt look into as i should have..lol …some months later i see iman track on tumblr,youtube search..and realized oh shyt this is the dude his manager has been telling me about. We linked up,build,vibed out and the rest is Euphoria.Made the project is about a month.Everything worked out on its own, just hlla natural. Thats when the best things come by when you dont force it.

 

What’s the meaning behind the title of “Garden State Of Mind: Prelude”? That was my first project..ever. Im from New jersey which is known as the Garden State so i just thought it would be fresh to rep my state at the same time of all of it.It was a prelude to Ready to Live which was release justa bout a yr after.

 

How do you make each project you release representative of you as an artist? idk….making a project is sooo different from just making a song and releasing it.I like for the songs to be cohesive..for everything to make sense you know. With every project it is a representation of that point of my life.So i just soak my self into the music and try to let the music be a reflection of me through sounds and words.

 

Are there any producers or artists that you want to work with in the future? hmmm anyone who has dope vibes.Im not big on names or anything good music is good music.thundercat &robert glasper 

 

Are you working on anything in particular at the moment? indeed.Graduating!!!! Im hyped for sure man..making euphoria the same month of summer classes wasnt easy but it happened..lol.,but besides that finsihing up Shades.Of.Moo which will be out this fall. be excited about that.jazz

 

If you couldn’t make music/art what would you be doing? What im doing now…in school,lol. Probably be a teacher, or a guidance couselor.

to make up your vibe what would it be? hmmmmmmmz lets see…damn thats a good question. I would say my record player its real althentic and raw.Love because i spread and receive through my music,and one more thing…hmmm ummmm oh good energy. If you have good energy with anything you do you will always be happy with the outcome/situation. You kinda put me on the spot thats all i could think of of top..lol
